Musician, Educator, and Recording Artist

Musician

Trombonist Jeremy Wilson is acclaimed for the versatility and lyricism of his playing as well as his insight and commitment as a teacher. He is well-known in trombone circles for the unusual way his professional career was launched. On his first-ever orchestral audition attempt at the age of 24, he won a prestigious position with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and its sister organization, the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera. After five seasons in Vienna, he returned to his home state of Tennessee to raise his family and start a new chapter as a teacher, soloist, and collaborator. He is well-known for his passionate and engaging style as a soloist, and has been featured in concerto performances and recitals in venues across the country and abroad. A staunch advocate for new music, he has commissioned and/or premiered over 35 new works for trombone.

Educator

Jeremy genuinely believes great music can change the world. It’s why he’s dedicated his career to increasing beauty, joy, connection, and understanding in the world through music, and to helping as many people as possible do the same. He teaches primarily at Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music, but is highly sought globally as a clinician, lecturer, and adjudicator. He also provides resources to help musicians of many different ages and experience levels. His Body Mind Spirit Method teaches musicians how to more effectively cultivate and balance their skills, knowledge, and passion, which leads to more holistic music-making and more enjoyable and sustainable careers. His ongoing Standard Repertoire Project on YouTube, which began in 2017, provides an ever-growing library of performance and tips videos for trombonists worldwide.

Recording Artist

Since returning to Music City in 2012, Jeremy has recorded three solo albums and collaborated on numerous other recording projects across multiple genres, from chamber music and jazz, to film scores and video game soundtracks, to a GRAMMY-winning compendium with the Nashville Symphony. His first two solo albums, Perspectives (2018) and For the Beauty of the Earth (2021) both received a silver medal from the Global Music awards. His latest album, Aurora, will be released in November 2023. All three albums consist almost exclusively of new works for trombone that he commissioned or co-commissioned. He has recorded albums as a member of the Aries Trombone Quartet, the Ryan Middagh Jazz Orchestra, and a piano, trumpet, trombone trio called TRIIIOMNIA.
